the parts of the digestive system and their functions

The mouth is the where the first stage of chemical and mechanical digestion to take a place. The mouth uses mechanical digestion by the healp of the four sets of teeth which are the incisor (front teeth and it is used for cutting), the canines (the tooth after the incisor which is usually sharper than the other teeth and it is used for percieng and tearing), the premolars and molars which are used for crushing and grinding nd the tongue which is used for moving the food around. The chmical digestion take place when your salaviary glands produce salavia which helps to soften the food. The food is also covered with a layer of salavia to make it easier to swallow down the esophugas. Also the chemical digestion happens when enzymes are produced. These enzymes are used to break down starch.

The Esophugas is a tube that contains muscules on the walls/sides that push the food down to your stomach in a wavelike motion. This motion is called presitalsis.

The Stomach is ina shape of a bag. The stomach walls/sides contain mescules that move the food and mix it. The stomach produces stomach acid that helps in the chemical digestion and it also produces pipsogen and hydrochloric that mix and turn into an enzyme called pepsin. The pepsin however does not take place in stomach, it is sent to the intestine to breakdown proteins. In addition to breaking down food, it also releases strong acids that kills any swallon bacteria. The stomach walls produce mucus lining on the walls that help to protect against the asrong acids and enzymes.

The Intestines is responsible for absorbing all the nutrients in the food. The food is broken down into a liquid before it reaches your small intestine so it can be absorbed and merged to blood. The small intestine also have many folds that help to increase the surface area and help the liquid to flow easier. The blood vessels surround the small intestine which makes it possible for the blood to carry nutrients, proteins, fats, etc to the body.

The Large intestine Is responsible for taking the waste products and absorbing th water out and then eject it out of the body.
